The Museum

Examples of what you'll find inside — from a Baseball Hall of Famer to a piece of Iowa railroad history.

Red Faber exhibit

Red Faber

On the first floor of our main building, an exhibit highlights the life and career of Baseball Hall of Famer Urban “Red” Faber, a Cascade native who played during the “Deadball” era for the Chicago White Sox. It's been described by baseball authorities as as good as anything you'd find in Cooperstown — a must-see for any White Sox fan or lover of the game. Read the full Red Faber story.

Narrow Gauge exhibit sign

Narrow Gauge

Railroad buffs will be fascinated by our display on the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Co., the narrow-gauge line that connected Cascade and Bellevue from 1880 to 1936. The depot exhibit includes photos of a bygone era of railroading along with actual artifacts from “The Slim Princess,” and a fully assembled replica boxcar sits on the museum grounds. Read more about the Narrow Gauge.

Veterans display

Veterans

From the Civil War to the present, the Tri-County area has sent its young men and women to serve in the nation's military. Our Veterans display includes artifacts from the Civil War through the modern era, along with an exhibit on the Home Front during WWII. A slideshow presentation of local veterans is a work in progress — families of area veterans, living or deceased, are encouraged to contribute photos.
